New Delhi, Oct 6: President Droupadi Murmu will visit Himachal Pradesh as part of her upcoming programme, with her itinerary including the first convocation of AIIMS Bilaspur and a visit to the Atal Tunnel.
The President will attend the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bilaspur, an important milestone for the institute as its students prepare to begin their careers in healthcare.
The event will highlight the growing importance of AIIMS Bilaspur in strengthening medical education and healthcare facilities in Himachal Pradesh. The institute is expected to play a key role in providing advanced medical services to people in the region while also creating opportunities for medical students and professionals.
During her visit, President Murmu will also travel to the Atal Tunnel, a major infrastructure project in the Himalayan region.
The tunnel, built beneath the Rohtang Pass, has made travel between Manali and the Lahaul-Spiti region easier and more reliable. It has also improved access for local communities and supported tourism and economic activity in the area.
For people living in the remote and mountainous parts of Himachal Pradesh, better road connectivity can make a significant difference by improving access to healthcare, education, markets and other essential services.
The President’s visit brings together two important aspects of development — better healthcare and stronger connectivity. While AIIMS Bilaspur represents the expansion of medical education and healthcare services, the Atal Tunnel reflects India’s efforts to build modern infrastructure in challenging geographical areas.
The visit is expected to highlight the progress being made in Himachal Pradesh and the wider focus on bringing essential services and infrastructure closer to people living in remote regions.
