"A teacher does not ask to be remembered. Yet, years later, when students return with folded hands and grateful hearts, it becomes the greatest testament to a life devoted to education."

Some relationships transcend time. They remain untouched by changing cities, professions and generations. The bond between a teacher and a student is one such relationship—built not merely through lessons taught, but through values instilled, confidence nurtured and lives transformed.

Alumni of S.M. Jain School honour Principal Shri R. K. Jhanjhi at Guru Vandan 2026, celebrating his six decades of service to education.

This timeless spirit came alive at Guru Vandan – The Grand Felicitation Ceremony, held on 5 July 2026 at Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies, Sector-14, Rohini, where hundreds of alumni of  S.M. Jain School  reunited after decades to honour their beloved Principal, Shri R. K. Jhanjhi, for his six decades of dedicated service to education, inspiring and shaping generations of students. Organised by the S.M. Jain Alumni Association, the event celebrated the enduring Guru–Shishya tradition and the lifelong impact of an inspiring educator.

Doctors, judges, entrepreneurs, educators, industrialists, business leaders and professionals from diverse fields gathered under one roof. Many reunited with classmates after more than four decades, reliving memories of school assemblies, classrooms, lifelong friendships and the teacher whose guidance quietly shaped the course of their lives.

The celebration commenced with a traditional welcome as students offered floral garlands to the distinguished guests, while the NCC Cadets of Titiksha Public School, Rohini, presented a ceremonial Guard of Honour. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolised the eternal light of knowledge, followed by a soulful Saraswati Vandana, setting a dignified and reverential tone for the evening.

A divine Saraswati Vandana added grace and devotion to the celebration.

The ceremony honoured Shri R. K. Jhanjhi, former Principal of S.M. Jain School, whose six decades of dedicated service to education continue to inspire generations of learners. The occasion was further graced by eminent health educator Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, whose inspiring address highlighted the invaluable role of teachers in shaping not only successful professionals but also responsible and compassionate citizens. His words reaffirmed that while institutions impart knowledge, it is teachers who build character.

Adding emotional depth to the celebration was the presence of the school's respected former teachers, who received a heartfelt welcome from their former students. Alumni paid tribute to the educators whose dedication had nurtured generations of learners, reminding everyone that while classrooms may fade into memory, the influence of a teacher lasts a lifetime.

The cultural presentations by the students of M.R. Global School, Bawana, beautifully reflected India's rich cultural heritage and values. A melodious musical welcome set a graceful tone for the evening, followed by a powerful presentation of  Shiv Tandav. A compelling theatrical performance based on the Mahabharata  highlighted the theme of women's empowerment, while a moving poem recitation, the school prayer and the National Anthem further elevated the emotional and patriotic spirit of the occasion.

The defining moment of the evening arrived when the alumni honoured Shri R. K. Jhanjhi with flowers, a commemorative memento and a traditional shawl. As the entire auditorium rose in a spontaneous standing ovation, emotions overflowed. Many alumni were visibly moved as they expressed heartfelt gratitude to the mentor who had guided them with patience, discipline and unwavering faith. It was not merely a felicitation; it was a heartfelt tribute from generations whose lives had been profoundly shaped by one educator.

Accepting the honour with humility, Shri R. K. Jhanjhi said:

"A teacher never works with the expectation of recognition. The greatest reward is seeing students grow into good human beings. Today, watching my students return with so much love and respect is the most precious blessing of my life."

Speaking on behalf of the alumni, one former student reflected:

"Life has given us many identities, doctor, judge, entrepreneur, educator but before all of that, we were students. Whatever we have become today began in the classrooms of S.M. Jain School, under the guidance of teachers who believed in us long before we believed in ourselves."

The celebration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the S.M. Jain Alumni Association, whose vision transformed the reunion into an unforgettable tribute to the Guru–Shishya tradition. The organising committee, comprising Shri Dinesh Pareekh, Shri Sanjay Kukreja, Shri Vijay Rattan, Shri Sehdev Kumar Rana, Shri Mukesh Manchanda, Shri Rajesh Gupta, Shri Dheeraj Jain and Shri Rajesh Talwar, worked tirelessly to reconnect alumni from across generations and create a fitting expression of gratitude towards the educators who shaped countless lives.

Throughout the ceremony, every embrace rekindled old memories, every photograph became a bridge between yesterday and today, and every conversation echoed with stories of childhood, learning and values that had endured the test of time.

As the evening concluded with the National Anthem, one message resonated deeply with everyone present: success may take students across the world, but gratitude always leads them back to the teacher who first taught them to dream.

For everyone who witnessed Guru Vandan, it was more than a ceremony. It was a celebration of respect over recognition, values over achievements and relationships over time—a moving reminder that while the world remembers successful people for what they become, every successful person remembers the teacher who helped them become who they are.
