Chennai, Aug 3: Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, India’s trusted business school for future-ready leaders, recently announced the opening of admissions for the Post Graduate Executive Program in Management. The programme is designed for mid-career professionals seeking to broaden their general management perspective and develop leadership capabilities while continuing in their current roles. The PGXPM runs over 18 months across seven terms, comprising over 450 in-class contact hours over 47 campus days, 67 per cent of the programme is delivered in the classroom. The first, fourth, and seventh terms are of nine days each; the five intermediate terms are of five days each. Participants are required to attend and reside on campus during each residency
Prof. Debashis Sanyal, Director, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, stated,
"The PGXPM is structured on a straightforward premise: that managers who want to move into leadership roles need more than deeper functional knowledge; they need the ability to think across an organisation, work with ambiguity, and bring others along with them. The programme is designed to build those capabilities over 18 months of applied learning, with the participant's own organisation serving as the primary context. We have seen this work consistently across industries and seniority levels, which is why we continue to have strong organisational support from companies who send their people here."
The programme is led by Prof. R. S. Veeravalli, Program Director, PGXPM, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. Between residencies, participants apply their learning to live business challenges within their own organisations, supported by faculty mentorship. Formal deliverables include a year-long Capstone project in Business and a Social Responsibility project focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance issues. Business simulations, including Markstrat, Supply Chain, and a Boardroom Simulation, are integrated across terms.
Assessment follows a 360° model, drawing on inputs from the participant's reporting manager, senior organisational leadership, Great Lakes faculty, and an executive coach. Individual Development Planning is built into the programme's coaching and mentoring structure throughout.
Participants are predominantly from the 35-45 age group and bring between 10 and 20 years of professional experience. The cohort spans industries including manufacturing, IT/ITES, FMCG, healthcare, and automotive. Past batches have included participants sponsored by organisations such as HDFC Bank, TCS, Tata Motors, HCLTech, TVS, Dr. Reddy's, and Godrej.
Participants may opt for a dual MBA degree from the University of Bordeaux, France, through a four-week post-programme module. This is an elective pathway and carries a separate fee.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum 50 per cent aggregate and have at least eight years of full-time work experience by 31st October 2026. The application requires a Statement of Purpose and two professional recommendations. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
