Gen Z Is Going Offline: TimbuckDo Launches AfterHours to Build India's Largest Offline Student Community

Bengaluru, July 30: TimBuckDo, India's student ecosystem connecting over 5 lakh students, has launched AfterHours, an offline-first community designed to bring Gen Z together through curated weekend experiences that foster genuine relationships beyond college campuses.

Gen Z Is Going Offline: TimbuckDo Launches AfterHours to Build India's Largest Offline Student Community

Unlike traditional communities where students are primarily participants, AfterHours is built as a student-led ecosystem where young people actively shape and build the communities they belong to. Through dedicated student representatives called Pilots and Co-Pilots, TimBuckDo is empowering students across cities to create, curate, and execute experiences for their peers.

These on-ground student leaders are responsible for understanding local community interests, designing experiences and bringing students together. Beyond offline networking and social interactions, the initiative enables students to take ownership of projects, develop leadership capabilities and build an entrepreneurial mindset through real-world execution at a district and state level.

For years, Gen Z built communities online. Platforms such as Discord, Reddit, WhatsApp and Telegram became spaces where friendships were formed, ideas were exchanged, and people found a sense of belonging. During the pandemic, these digital communities became an essential part of everyday life, replacing classrooms, cafés and college campuses.

As life returned to normal, however, a new shift began to emerge. Despite being the most digitally connected generation, Gen Z is increasingly searching for something that screens cannot provide: authentic human connection. Students are moving beyond endless group chats and conventional networking events in favour of communities built around shared interests, meaningful conversations and real-life experiences.

Speaking about the launch of AfterHours, Mythri Kumar, CEO and Co-Founder, TimBuckDo, said:

"Today's students aren't looking for more notifications. They're looking for people, experiences and communities they genuinely belong to. AfterHours is our response to that shift. Our vision is to build India's largest offline student community where meaningful relationships are created through shared experiences, whether that's playing a sport, attending a creative workshop, joining a community run or simply spending time with like-minded people. We believe the future of community is not just digital. It's deeply human."

Unlike traditional networking events or one-time college festivals, AfterHours is built on a simple belief: the strongest communities are created through shared experiences. Every weekend, students come together to participate in activities that naturally encourage conversations, friendships and a genuine sense of belonging.

The community is powered by TimBuckDo's network of Pilots and Co-Pilots across cities, who act as the bridge between students and the experiences being created. This student-led approach ensures that AfterHours evolves around the interests, aspirations and ideas of the communities it serves.

The community hosts a wide variety of experiences spanning creativity, sports, wellness, entertainment and networking. Participants can take part in The Delusional Lab, where teams build fictional startups around absurd prompts before pitching them to fellow students, join the Matcha Run, a community 5K followed by conversations with founders, unwind at Sip & Paint sessions, compete in Pickleball Socials, or participate in board game socials, Bollywood trivia nights and immersive detective experiences. Each experience is intentionally designed to make meeting new people feel natural and enjoyable.

The idea behind AfterHours was shaped through months of experimentation. Before officially launching the community, TimBuckDo hosted pilot experiences across Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai to better understand what today's students were looking for. The insight was clear and consistent: students valued authentic interactions over transactional networking and preferred communities where conversations happened organically rather than through formal introductions.

These learnings also reinforced the need for students to have greater ownership in shaping the communities they participate in. Through the pilot and co-pilot model, TimBuckDo is creating opportunities for students to move from being community members to community builders, gaining practical experience in leadership, collaboration, and execution.

Building on these learnings, TimBuckDo is now on a mission to create India's largest offline community for Gen Z.

AfterHours is already active in Bengaluru and has expanded to Delhi, Pune and Indore, with new experiences taking place every weekend. Each city chapter is supported by student Pilots and Co-Pilots who work closely with local student communities to create and execute experiences that reflect regional interests and student aspirations.

Over the coming months, the initiative will continue expanding through city chapters across Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, creating a nationwide ecosystem where students, creators, founders, artists, athletes and young professionals can come together through shared experiences.

While professional networking remains important, AfterHours believes meaningful relationships are built beyond conference rooms and business cards. Whether it is playing pickleball with strangers, painting over a cup of matcha, solving a detective mystery, brainstorming an imaginary startup or joining a community run, every experience is designed around one simple principle: shared experiences create stronger connections than introductions ever can.

As conversations around digital fatigue, loneliness and well-being continue to grow, AfterHours reflects a broader cultural movement among young people who are redefining what community means. For a generation often described as digitally native but socially isolated, the future of connection may not lie in another app. It lies in showing up, participating and building relationships in the real world.

Students between the ages of 18 and 24 can discover and register for upcoming AfterHours experiences through the TimBuckDo app. New experiences are hosted every weekend across multiple cities, with activities spanning wellness, sports, creativity, entertainment and networking.
